Sanur’s iconic coastline stretches almost 8km and, with almost 5km containing a walking and cycle path, it can be easily explored during a gentle stroll or bike ride. With clear skies in the morning, Mount Agung and the neighbouring islands of Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida can be seen in the distance and in the evening, the sun sets over the Mangrove trees.

The central strip of Pantai Segara Ayu is perfect for swimming and sea kayaking. Beachfront hotels maintain the sand south in Pantai Sindhu and offer day beds, gazebos and F&B services. Pantai Karang is a quieter beach where surfers can paddle out to reef breaks and Mertasari beach is located at the end with windsurfing, kitesurfing and paragliding.

Since the 1970s, Uluwatu Balinese Lace has drawn on traditional local craft skills to produce a unique quality of lace, known as ‘krawang’. It is not uncommon for these works of art to take more than five days to produce as the lace is stretched onto bamboo hoops and hand-sewn, with every layer being carefully constructed. This atelier employs over 500 craftspeople, is a zero-emission factory and is highly committed to sustainable manufacturing and ethical sourcing.

Sindhu Traditional Market Bali is located in Sanur. This market has two functions every day. In the morning, this market operates like a traditional market in general. Selling various kinds of basic needs for the people of South Denpasar District and surrounding areas, starting from daily needs to household appliances. While at night, you will find something interesting here.

For the culture vultures, and those passionate about art, The Le Mayeur Museum is a must-see on your trip to Sanur. Located right on the beachfront, this building is a stunning example of Balinese architecture and is home to a memorial museum showcasing the artworks and personal history of Brussels-born, Belgian painter Adrien-Jean Le Mayeur de Merpres. His collection of traditional Balinese art and local artefacts are also on display.

You can’t take one home but have you ever wanted to adopt a turtle? Now you can. The Turtle Conservation and Education Centre rescue turtles, both young and old, saving them from uninhabitable tourist environments and nursing them to full health before releasing them back into the wild.

Release programs usually operate in the mornings between 09:00 – 10:00 and late afternoons from 15:00 – 17:00, July – October. However, guests are advised to check that there are turtles available.
