Savour An Exclusive Sanur Beachside Escape At

InterContinental Bali Sanur Resort

Discover the essence of sophistication and luxury at Sanur’s premier beachfront destination, the InterContinental Bali Sanur Resort. Here, amidst the swaying palm trees and azure waters, experience the warmth of Balinese hospitality at the island’s ultimate sleepy seaside retreat.

Just a short drive from Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport, the InterContinental resort boasts 120 spacious suites and villas, offering guests total privacy and comfort during their stay. Bask in the tranquil charm of Sanur and enjoy the InterContinental Bali’s personalised service and attention to detail. Offering exclusive facilities such as a fully equipped fitness centre, kid’s club, spa and array of resort activities, we couldn’t wait to spend two nights in this slice of tropical paradise!

Whilst Sanur’s beachfront offers a variety of hotels and resorts, for a truly luxurious five-star holiday experience, the InterContinental Bali Sanur Resort is hard to beat! Its meticulous design offers something for everyone, from family escapes, to solo business travellers and romantic getaways – this place definitely ticks all the boxes!

The resort’s attention to detail was evident from the very start, as we received a traditional Balinese welcome blessing complete with holy water, rice offering and frangipani flower placed behind our ear. After a seamless check-in process, we were shown to our room – the opulent One-Bedroom Ocean View Signature Spa Suite.

All of the InterContinental Bali’s rooms, suites and villas have been tastefully designed, blending modern sophistication together with traditional Balinese charm. We loved the personal touches, such as the intricate local artwork which tastefully furnishes the rooms, as well as a private massage table – perfect for a rejuvenating in-room massage to unwind from the day’s stresses.

The spacious bathroom had all the amenities you could possibly need, with a double sink, light-up mirrors and dressing table, as well as separate toilet, bath and shower. Wandering out to our private balcony, we were treated to dazzling ocean views as well as the surrounding lush gardens – the perfect place to relax with a good book and soak-up the holiday ambience!

After unpacking, we decided to check-out the resort’s facilities, including a well-equipped fitness centre, kid’s club, spa and whole host of daily guest activities, ranging from yoga, to Balinese dancing lessons, mixology classes, aqua stretching, kite making, turtle releases and even a bonfire and marshmallows by the beach. Deciding to make the most of our gorgeous suite, we opted to spend the first evening enjoying our balcony ocean views and ordering room service. Then it was off to bed, as tomorrow morning would be an early start!

After an extremely comfortable sleep (the beds are a definite highlight!) we awoke early to take full advantage of the InterContinental’s prime beachside location and set-off for a sunrise walk. Sanur’s distinctive walking path runs for over 5km, alongside calm ocean views, peppered with colourful local fishing boats (called Jungkung). It’s popular with local residents and tourists alike who enjoy walking, running and cycling alongside the quaint local shops, restaurants and spas which line the pathway. As Sanur is situated on the east side of the island, its colourful sunsets draw many keen photographers, with views of Mount Agung volcano and Nusa Penida island visible on a clear day. Although we decided to walk, the resort also offers bicycles for you to rent if you prefer.

Arriving back to our room, we showered and got ready to head down to breakfast at the resort’s Layang-Layang restaurant. We are big fans of a breakfast buffet – and this certainly did not disappoint! They had all the Western breaky faves, as well as Asian classics and everything in between – from tempting Danish pastries to fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, meats and cheeses, as well as an egg station. As if that wasn’t enough, there is an à-la-carte menu, which is also included in your breakfast package. Once we had eaten like kings (or queens!), it was time to head to the pool for a spot of sunbathing, whilst we let our food digest.

With its crystal-clear waters and infinity views, the pool at the InterContinental Bali is the ideal spot to unwind and soak-up the Bali sunshine. We grabbed our towels and settled down, choosing from a variety of spacious single and double cushioned daybeds. Glasses of iced water were promptly brought over and we were reminded why these little personal touches make the InterContinental Bali stand-out for so many other resorts on the island. Situated beside the main pool, you’ll find the Nyala Beach Club, serving Mediterranean cuisine and light bites, best enjoyed with a crisp glass of wine or signature cocktail.

All that swimming and sunbathing had got us ready for lunch, so we decided to check-out the Pier Eight restaurant situated by the beach, which offers serene ocean panoramas and is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. From sumptuous fresh prawns, steak sandwiches, pizzas, grilled fish and local delicacies, there was plenty on offer for even the most discerning of palates. Guests with dietary requirements are also well-catered for, with allergen information clearly marked on the menu, as well as a separate gluten-free list. As we savoured our lunch, we watched the cyclists pass-by, tinkling their bells as the calm Sanur village vibes surrounded us.

Staying in the holiday mode, we decided to try out the in-room massage service. As our suite had its own massage bed, we didn’t even have to venture to the resort’s spa to indulge in some quality relaxation time! After a soothing 60-minute Balinese massage, it was time to head to the Piano Session at the Lobby Lounge to kick-back with a sundowner at their well-stocked bar and indulge in their complimentary afternoon tea.

Feeling refreshed and ready for some sightseeing, we decided to venture out of the resort to sample some of the local Sanur restaurants. The beach path was bustling with activity and along the way we checked-out some of the quaint boutique shops to pick-up some bargains. There were plenty of spots to eat, offering gorgeous views of Sanur beach at dusk. After a delicious dinner of fresh fish, we made our way back to the hotel for an early night – any excuse to spend some extra time in that comfy bed!

With another blissful sleep under our belt, we reluctantly prepared to check out, pausing along the way to indulge in one final breakfast feast. As the concierge helped to load our bags, we bid farewell to what had been a totally blissful getaway.

If you’re looking for a luxurious hotel stay that still retains its quaint Balinese charm, then the InterContinental Bali Sanur Resort should be top of your list. Its beachside location was a definite plus for us, being in-amongst the traditional Sanur village life, with plenty of shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. It’s the ultimate choice for those discerning travellers seeking a touch of paradise!
