Bali, 24 Juli 2024 – Selaras dengan komitmen kami terhadap pelestarian lingkungan, termasuk perlindungan terhadap spesies yang terancam punah, InterContinental Bali Sanur Resort dan Holiday Inn Bali Sanur mengadakan acara pelepasan tukik di Pantai Semawang, Sanur.
Pantai Semawang yang terletak di depan InterContinental Bali Sanur Resort masih menjadi tempat favorit bagi penyu betina untuk bertelur. Sekitar dua bulan yang lalu, tim kami menemukan sarang telur penyu di pantai depan resor kami. Untuk melindungi telur – telur tersebut dari serangan binatang lain dan manusia, kami memasang penutup pelindung di atas sarang, agar telur – telur tersebut aman saat dieram selama kira – kira 60 hari sebelum menetas bersama – sama.
Setelah tukik – tukik, istilah lain dari bayi penyu, tersebut muncul, kami memindahkan mereka dengan hati-hati ke tangki besar berisi air laut, untuk kami beri makanan dan kami rawat mereka siap sebelum kami lepas ke laut. Jumlah tukik 89 ekor.
Setelah dua minggu dan tukik cukup kuat, kami melepaskan mereka ke alam liar, laut di depan InterContinental Bali Sanur Resort. Kami mengundang tamu yang menginap di InterContinental Bali Sanur Resort dan Holiday Inn Bali Sanur, untuk ikut serta dalam acara melepas tukik – tukik ini. Dengan berpartisipasi acara ini, mereka membantu berkontribusi pada kelangsungan hidup jangka panjang spesies yang terancam punah ini.
Kami berkumpul di pantai pada hari Rabu, 24 Juli 2024, pukul 10:30 pagi. Setiap tukik ditempatkan secara individu didalam mangkuk. Anak-anak mendapatkan kesempatan pertama untuk melepaskan tukik – tukik tersebut dengan tujuan untuk memberi binaan tentang kepedulian terhadap pelestarian lingkungan sejak dini.
“Kita harus membantu melindungi hewan yang terancam punah ini dengan mendukung program pelestarian lingkungan, karena penyu laut sangat penting bagi ekosistem pesisir dan laut. Jika penyu laut punah, kedua ekosistem tersebut akan terpengaruh negatif, yang pasti akan berdampak negatif pula pada manusia,” kata Bapak Nandar Kusumah, Direktur Operasional Holiday Inn Bali Sanur. Dia menambahkan, “Program ini sejalan dengan komitmen IHG Giving For Good, karena kami berdedikasi untuk memberikan dampak positif bagi komunitas dan planet kita.”
